ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Grit meets gospel in the desert. Virtual Nobodies is a coastal desert rock band born from the friction between belonging and rebellion, longing and letting go. Helmed by Jeremiah Gray and Xavier Valdez, with Lyle Mauricio on lead guitar and Sam Campbell on drums, the Virtual Nobodies blend cinematic Americana with modern grit — a detour through the Mojave with nothing but a Telecaster and a prayer. Guided by legendary producer Niko Bolas (Neil Young/Prince), their debut album is set for release in October 2026, with songs featuring the esteemed Perla Batalla (Leonard Cohen) on backing vocals, Waddy Wachtel (Stevie Nicks) on guitar, and Jesse Siebenberg (Sturgill Simpson) on steel and piano. They were recently featured in LA Living Magazine as one of their 2026 game changers. They have had their music spotlighted by NPR Tiny Desk, with a live choral arrangement of their song Lovebirds featuring Linda McCrary of the McCrarys (Michael Jackson/Stevie Wonder). Virtual Nobodies' song Circus Zoo was featured in the award-winning film 'Pretty in Red', winning 7 film festival awards for best original song. The band recently supported rock band 'A Flock of Seagulls' during their Southern California run. From dusty highways to neon-soaked dive bars, Virtual Nobodies channel the spirit of outsiders with something to prove. With anthemic melodies and a stage presence that towers like a dusty cathedral, this isn’t just a band —it’s a resurrection.

INTERVIEW:

1. “What moment made you realize you wanted to take music seriously?”

I was listening to a record of Cream playing Crossroads live at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco in 1968. Jack Bruce's burning bass playing and operatic vocals gave me my first second-hand dopamine rush from listening to music. From that moment on, I've been chasing that high onstage and in the studio.

2. “Say, your music blew up tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do?”

If our music blew up tomorrow, the first thing I would do is take our Virtual Nobodies bandmates and core team out to a nice dinner. Take a deep breath together, and enjoy the calm before the storm.

3. “What’s a song you’ve made that means the most to you—and why?”

The song we've written that means the most to me...that's tough. Songs are living. They take on a life of their own. I don't believe we write them, so much as hear them, if you're paying close attention. My favorites are the ones that have no reference- they feel like they came from some future genre that you have as much luck describing as describing a color. That said, there is a new song called 'Achilles!' off of our upcoming debut album that is a formidable tune, rich with anthemic melodies, a galloping beat, and lyrically, I meant every word.

4. “What emotion or mindset do you want people to feel when they hear your music?”

4. I think we would want people to feel the honesty or vulnerability from each song. Anything that can bring out emotion from listening is probably our biggest goal. At that point we would know our job was done correctly. Our goal is to create memorable melodies and lines that you would stick to saying in a way.

5. “What separates you from every other artist in your lane right now?”

5. I think our biggest challenge and also best thing is having the sound/ style we have. It’s eclectic, and we hear it’s very hard to place. We’ve been discovering our sound for quite some time and are not afraid to experiment in different genres. We know a good song is a good song regardless of how you make it sound. We just want what serves a song correctly.

BONUS. “Say someone just became a fan of you—what 1 song should they listen to first and why?”

6. They should listen to ‘Bona Fide,’ which has just been released. A song we’re incredibly proud of
